The Northern Counties Shetland Sheepdog Club hosted the SHELTIE OF THE YEAR  COMPETITION   for 2008.  The show was held immediately after the OCTOBER OPEN SHOW in the Nissan Sports and Social  Club in Washington Co Durham.  The judges for the occasion were

                Mrs M. Glover-Guest (Doonelodge)

                Miss S. Sangster  (Drumcauchlie)

There were only three classes in this competition PUPPY, ADULT AND VETERAN, but each judge judged each class and placed five dogs in order.  The placed  dogs were awarded points according to their placing and at the end of the judging a winner emerged from each class i.e. the dog with the most points.  This competition seemed to suffer from the same problem as the Open Show immediately before it -  absentees.

All entries (whether present or not) received a rosette with their dog's name on it.  The class winners received a special prize and the Judges received a framed photograph of a Sheltie which was Specific and Special  to them.

When all of the points were added up at the end of the judging the following results emerged:
