OPEN SHOW JANUARY 4TH 2009 The show this year was held in the Hurworth Community Centre, near Darlington in Co. Durham. The Club has used this venue in the past, but not very recently. This occasion was something of an emergency because the original venue was supposed to be undergoing renovation which would not necessarily be finished in time for our show. The hall was more than big enough for today's entry entry although it seemed to take a long time to warm warm up. The Committee of the NCSSC provided the usual high standard of catering with bacon butties being available to greet the early arrivals. Our judge today was Mrs S. Davies (Ludjenka). It almost seemed as if the financial crisis which we were all facing affected the exhibitors this year. Or perhaps it was just the very cold weather. Whatever the reason Mrs Davies received an entry of 113 made from 89 dogs, a little lower than would normally be expected for this show. There also seemed to be a larger number of absentees than usual. Mrs Davies gave all of her exhibits a very thorough examination and in due course she made her decisions for the main awards at the show. These were as follows: BEST IN SHOW Mrs J. Charlton's DAISYWAY THE MESMERIST RESERVE BEST IN SHOW AND BEST OPPOSITE SEX Mr J. Hugh's MARYVILLE STAR TURN J.W. BEST PUPPY Mrs H. Bendelow's AMETHRICKEH CHARMED CAFE RESERVE BEST PUPPY Mrs H. Bendelow's SANDWICK MASTER PLAYER AT AMETHRICKEH The complete classified results are given in the following table:
