THE 50TH CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW, 4TH APRIL 2010 The Northern Counties Shetland Sheepdog Club's 50th Championship Show was held at the Nissan Sports and Social Club in Washington Co. Durham on the 4th April 2010. This site is now the normal venue for the NCSSC Championship shows as it provides an excellent floor area with plenty of room for cages, rings and spectators. This was a very well attended show there being 185 dogs making a total entry of 254. This venue has had some problems in the past but today things seemed to be much better. There was hot food available most of the day and what seemed to be a good lunch served for those who wanted it. Last year there was a serious problem with the lighting in the main hall but this year everything was fine. An innovation this year was the attendance of a professional photographer, Photocall Northeast, to take the photographs for inclusion on this site and also of course to take any photographs which exhibitors may have wanted of their dogs. During the judging exhibitors were encouraged to visit the photographer so that there would be a complete record of the class winners on the web site. Also, because it was the 50th Championship Show each class winner received a permanent trophy to keep to remind them of the day. In addition all of the main award winners received a silver plated chalice, courtesy of Mrs Norah Chilton (now deceased). Our judges for the 50th Championship show were DOGS Mrs P. RIGBY (LYTHWOOD) BITCHES Mrs M. DANIELS (PEPPERHILL) With such a large entry both judges had very long days and both put in sterling performances.
