CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 2008 The Northern Counties Shetland Sheepdog club held its 48th Championship Show on the 5th April 2008 at the Nissan Sports and Social Club, Washington, Co Durham. This is an excellent venue, being large and spacious. There was enough floor space to house two generous sized rings and still leave sufficient room for exhibitors cages and grooming tables. There was still plenty of room for exhibitors to move around, circulate and socialise. The sign posting to the venue seemed to have been much improved. When exhibitors arrived there were bacon sandwiches and drinks on sale from the snack bar provided by the venue. This service did not seem to last all day, probably due to the football matches finishing. Our Judges for today were Mrs Mary Fallas (Dalsetter), who ran her eye over 88 dogs who made a total of 120 entries, and Mrs Tracey Gartland who had the onerous task of examining 111 dogs making 156 entries. Mrs Fallas chose as her Dog C.C. winner Altier/Sandine and Bohne's Anakin Skywalker Jedi Des Romarins De Mayerling who was being handled by Mrs S.J. Walker. The Reserve C.C. was awarded to Mrs Norman's Francehill Two Tone and the Best Puppy Dog was Mrs Wheeler's Evad Sommer Surprize. Mrs Gartland found her Bitch C.C. winner in Rainelor Rosabella J.W. and her Reserve C.C. in Dr J.Hill's Ch Molson Midsomernites Dream. The Best Bitch Puppy was Mrs S. Robinson's Milesend Goodtimes at Lavika. When it came to deciding on the Best In Show the two judges failed to agree and had to call upon the services of the Show Referee, Mrs Joan Russell. After examining the dogs in question she duly made her decision. Similar disagreements occurred over other placings and Mrs Russell had a busy time. In the end the following awards were made BEST IN SHOW RAINELOR ROSABELLA J.W. RESERVE BEST IN SHOW Ch MOLSON MIDSOMERNITE DREAM BEST PUPPY MILESEND GOODTIMES AT LAVIKA BEST VETERAN Ch MILESEND STORM QUEEN This was a very pleasant show with a good friendly atmosphere. Running two rings together meant that the show concluded at a reasonable time, about 3.30pm. Exhibitors could have most, if not all, of their journey home in daylight. This was particularly important today as the weather had been really bad during the course of the day with several very heavy showers of snow and hail. Fortunately this did not settle THE FULL CLASSIFIED RESULTS
